Hehir Funeral Directors is an Independent family business based in Kilkenny providing personal attention in your time of need. Hehir Funeral Directors was established in 1932 by Joe Hehir. The business was continued by his son Des and his wife Aileen. It is now managed by their children Caran and Tom Hehir, the third generation of the family in this business.

We strive to serve you and your loved one with a professional, courteous and confidential caring service carried out with dignity and respect. We are always deeply honoured when a family requests us to attend to the funeral arrangements of their loved one. Our aim is to relieve families of further stress and worry at this difficult time. We intend to continue to serve the community of Kilkenny City and County to the highest standards and are always seeking to improve our service.

Our services as funeral undertakers to you start when you contact us, whether by telephone or calling personally, and extend often way beyond the day of the funeral. You can contact us 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are there to serve and help you in any way that we can at a difficult and sad time of your life.

We are available to give you a personal service, anytime – day or night. Once we have been notified of a death everything can be left safely in our care. Here at Hehir’s we provide a completely unique family services.

All services are personally supervised by Caran and Tom.

Facilities

Our funeral home at Butt’s Green, Kilkenny City was opened in 1987 and consists of a chapel of rest, viewing room and toilet facilities. Our office and coffin showroom are located in Greenacres,Dublin Road, Kilkenny.

Funeral Costs and Payments

We are very conscious of the modern day funeral costs and would strive to offer affordable prices. In all aspects of the funeral arrangements our staff will point out the procedures and legal requirements. Whilst arranging a funeral, we will advise on costs and charges to be incurred.

The funeral account itself is divided into two separate parts, the funeral director’s charges and the disbursements. These contain our professional fees and overhead costs, which include the provision of a 24 hour a day on call rota, our professional services in making the funeral arrangements and arranging documentation and necessary personal attendances.
